Gregory A. Reid, CIMA
President & CEO – MLP Business for Salient Capital Advisors, LLC
Portfolio Manager
Gregory A. Reid is a Managing Director of Salient Partners and serves as the President and CEO of Salient’s Master Limited Partnership (MLP) business. Salient manages approximately $250 million in public MLP investments in both long-short and long-only strategies. Mr. Reid and his team also actively invest in private MLP investments and other energy-related opportunities. Prior to being acquired by Salient, Mr. Reid served as the Founder and CEO of RDG Capital LLC, a Houston-based asset and wealth management firm specializing in MLP investments. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking and Investment Group. He began his career in the financial services industry with Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. Mr. Reid earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and later graduated from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management with his Master of Business Administration (MBA). Additionally, Mr. Reid earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Reid is registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as a General Securities Representative (Series 7) and a General Securities Principal (Series 24). Mr. Reid is a member of the Austin Chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and is very active in his community through his involvement in various charitable organizations. Mr. Reid and his wife Janelle have one son and two daughters.
Ted Gardner, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Ted Gardner, CFA is a Director of Salient Partners, where he serves as Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Master Limited Partnership (MLP) complex. Prior to being acquired by Salient, Mr. Gardner was a partner of RDG Capital, a Houston-based asset and wealth management firm. He served as Portfolio Manager and Director of Research for RDG’s MLP strategies, which had assets under management of approximately $250 million. Previously, Mr. Gardner was a research analyst at Raymond James, where he followed approximately 35 MLPs in the pipeline, midstream, propane, maritime, and coal industries. Before joining Raymond James, Mr. Gardner was a financial advisor at UBS Financial Services and began his career with a private consulting firm specializing in turnaround management and financial restructuring. Mr. Gardner graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration and earned an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, Cameron School of Business. He is a member of the CFA Society of Houston and a CFA charterholder.
John A. Blaisdell
Chairman
Mr. Blaisdell is the Chief Executive Officer and a Co-Founder of Salient Partners, L.P., a diversified asset management firm dedicated to delivering distinct and innovative investment strategies to institutional and retail investors. Based in Houston, Texas, Salient manages approximately $18 billion in assets for high net worth individuals, families, retail financial intermediaries and institutions.
In addition to his role as CEO, Mr. Blaisdell serves as the Chairman of the Salient Board of Managers. He also serves on SMF, a NYSE Fund, and various other Fund Boards and governance and investment committees.
Prior to joining Salient in December 2002, Mr. Blaisdell served as CEO of a large private investment holding company for a high-net-worth Texas family, where he was responsible for managing a $1 billion portfolio of private and publicly traded assets including equities, fixed income, real estate, alternative investments, early- and latter-stage venture investments and operating companies.
Mr. Blaisdell previously served as Partner, President and COO of Leisure Management International ("LMI"), a Houston-based company owned in partnership with the Huizenga Family and other well-known Houston investors. Under his leadership, the company grew to become a global industry leader in the management of sports and entertainment facilities, specializing in the contract management, marketing, and operation of arenas, stadiums, convention centers and other public assembly facilities for both public and private clients. Mr. Blaisdell advised high net worth families on sports franchise acquisitions and dispositions and municipal governments on lease negotiations with such franchises. LMI was sold to SMG, a joint venture of ARAMARK and the Pritzker family, in 2000.
Mr. Blaisdell has previously held various senior private, public and quasi-public positions in South Florida and the City of Miami, coordinating the development of more than $1 billion of private and public projects including large scale residential, commercial, and entertainment projects.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Houston Ballet and has served on the Board of Directors of many other public, private and charitable organizations in Florida, Texas and New Mexico. He received a B.S. from Barry University in 1983 and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1987.
Lee Partridge, CFA & CAIA
Chief Investment Officer
Lee Partridge is the Chief Investment Officer of Salient Partners. Mr. Partridge also directly oversees the investment program for the $7.7 billion investment portfolio of the San Diego County Employee Retirement Association. Previously, Mr. Partridge was the founder and CEO of Integrity Capital, LLC, which spanned traditional and alternative investment strategies and the Deputy Chief Investment Officer of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas where he was responsible for global asset allocation, risk management, portfolio construction, external managers, hedge funds, derivative strategies, equity trading, futures trading and risk management. Mr. Partridge holds an MBA degree from Rice University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Houston. He also holds both the CFA and CAIA designations.
Jeremy L. Radcliffe
Managing Director
Jeremy L. Radcliffe is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Salient, where he oversees the firm's investment division. He also serves as the Portfolio Manager of the Salient Absolute Return Fund. Previously, Mr. Radcliffe was a Partner of The Redstone Companies, where he managed certain private equity investments. A native of Houston, he graduated from St. John's School before earning his undergraduate degree in Classics, magna cum laude, from Princeton University. Mr. Radcliffe is a Board Member and Treasurer of the Houston READ Commission, the city's non-profit urban literacy coalition. He also assists KIPP Academy, a nationally-recognized charter school for underserved students with a large presence in Houston, in its fundraising efforts as a member of its KIPP Houston Development Committee.
John Price
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Price is the Chief Financial Officer for Salient Partners, L.P., Salient Trust Co., LTA and for the firm’s investment funds where he also serves as the Treasurer. He is a Partner at the firm and has over 19 years of finance, accounting and investing experience. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Price assisted in the establishment of a family office and private investment holding company to manage the affairs and investments for a high net worth Texas family. Mr. Price was involved in all facets of management and operations including accounting, finance, investments and risk management. Mr. Price was previously employed with Andersen, L.L.P., where he was a Manager in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services department. He started his career as an analyst and then later became a broker for a commercial insurance wholesaler. He earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Texas Christian University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He obtained his masters degree in the Executive MBA Program at Rice University, where he graduated with honors. Mr. Price is a licensed certified public accountant, and is a member of the Texas Society for Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants.
Paul Bachtold
Chief Compliance Officer
Mr. Bachtold serves as Chief Compliance Officer for Salient Partners, L.P. and for the firm's investment funds and advisors. In this capacity, Mr. Bachtold oversees all compliance and regulatory programs for the firm and serves as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns within the organization. Prior to joining Salient, Mr. Bachtold was President of Bachtold & Associates in Chicago, IL. In this role, he provided regulatory consulting services to financial organizations with institutional and retail clients. Mr. Bachtold was previously employed by Barclays Global Investors, N.A., where he was US Compliance Manager based in San Francisco, CA. Prior to joining Barclays, Mr. Bachtold was employed by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in various capacities, including institutional and retail trust, brokerage, funds and asset management compliance. Mr. Bachtold earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Augustana College and his Masters of Business Administration from St. Mary's College. He is currently a member of the National Association of Compliance Professionals and holds the following US securities licenses: S4, S7, S8, S24, S63, S65 & S79.
